Fun with Friends, Foam, and Food

Saturday was a day with friends.

We spent the afternoon with EK's basketball team at a local gymnastic center.  All of the equipment was open for use by the children.  Of course a few of the adults had to test their gymnastic abilities as well.  By far the most fun was had in the foam pit.  With great determination, mrs. mil10 finally made it out of the pit.  Don't let yourself think this is necessarily an easy task!  mr. mil10's time in the pit resulted in a wet sock.  Gross!  There are some places that you just hope don't cause your socks to get wet.  Public restrooms, dressing rooms, Chuck E. Cheese ball pits, and now a foam pit.  I don't know what was at the bottom of the pit, but I am not going to find out.  The wet sock soon found itself at the bottom of a trash can.

After leaving the basketball party we headed out for game night with friends.  The menu for food was "build your own sandwiches."  The menu for fun was Wii, including New Super Mario Bros. and MarioKart. A great time was had by the adults and the children!

A Whole Lot of Nothing

Blogging lately just has not been happening.  I have been reading everyone's interesting posts about what is going on in their homes, deep thoughts, or new discoveries in far away lands.  I like to check blogs and the links on other friends' blogs to see who has updated and what they have to share.  Despite it all, I have not found (or made) time to sit down at the computer and type myself.

Is it Facebook?  I haven't gone a whole day without it since I jumped on board in the fall.  Is it my 2010 resolutions getting in the way?  I have to squeeze in time to exercise and drink all that water somehow.  I am not really sure.  Maybe it doesn't matter.  Quality over quantity, right?

I have been really interested in reading how Denyse has committed to a post a day during the month of January.  In addition to blogging everyday, she has tied all of her posts to one month long theme!  Wow!  I decided to see what NaBloPoMo has for its next theme, but could not find it.  Well have to see if it is a topic that this mil10 can relate to.

Sigh. Tomorrow is a new day.  Let's see what happens.  Maybe it will be something that inspires me to share here.  You never know!

We are the Champions!

Thus far in EK's sporting adventures, he has found basketball and baseball (t-ball and coach pitch) to be his favorites.  Every Saturday for the last few weeks we have been busy with basketball at our local YMCA.  I don't know how we lucked out, this season most of our games were at 12:00 or later, so we were still able to sleep late!

Going into today, the team has been undefeated.  One heated game went into overtime, but finally we came out victorious!  Today, we had two games.  First we played the team that we previously went into overtime with.  Although the score was again tied at the end of the game, OT was avoided because we reached the "time limit" for playing.  During our second game we outscored the opposing team and won!

We say we had an undefeated season.  Hey, even if we had one game with a tie, they still didn't beat us!

Way to hustle, EK!

At times EK was motivated by money.  When she was in from college, Aunt K would offer a $1 bill every time he touched the ball.  I don't know if that was what motivated him last week or not, but EK did manage to have clear opportunity to shoot the ball and he made two points for the team!  No points today despite numerous attempts.  It always seems like he really "gets into it" just as the season wraps up.

Earlier this month the team won a contest and the parents and children of the team were able to go to a Mavericks game.  It was a fun night for everyone.  Some people were surprised by how high the seats were, but we thought they were better than our $2 seats (they may be in the nosebleed section, but we still have a blast going).  Our coach even arranged to have "YMCA Bulls" on the big screen for all to see.

Way to go boys!

Looking Back, Looking Ahead

Now that we have officially entered into 2010, I can't help but look back this little blog project.  It simply started as a hobby.  We thought it would be a fun way to publish what we have been up to.  We really didn't know who would read it when we started.

I must say that having a blog has been enjoyable even if we did not document everything we have been doing.  Is that even possible?  I am sure it may be for some, but we decided long ago that this project should cover the highlights.  Looking back, we averaged about one post every three days.  It is safe to say we are far from having covered everything.  What did we miss?  Fun with new cell phones, caving in and getting on board with Facebook, most of the busyness and festivity and meaningfulness that is December, another art award for EK, and so much more.

So what lies ahead?  The mil10 blog will continue to cover things that we find interesting, things that we have learned, and things that we are doing.  There is a year ahead of us full of possibilities--a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!
